Emblem, Muscat 2010
Designed by Saleem Sakhi, renowned Omani artist, the Muscat 2010 logo represents the relationship between the Omani people and the sea. The sail reflects the connection of Oman to the rest of Asia by hosting the shining sun in Muscat and projects a healthy future for Asian sport aided by a ship carrying it to international sporting destinations. The strong high waves provide the logo with solidity, vitality, sustainability and challenges and represent the athletes competing in the Games. The waves touch the attractive Omani beaches and give a local natural dimension to the logo.
Oman is the host nation for the 2010 Asian Beach Games which is being held in Almusannah and Muscat from 8 December to 16 December 2010 . Oman teams have 83 athletes ( 75 men and 8 women ) competing in 12 sports .
In 2010, Vietnam will participate in the 2010 Asian Beach Games in Muscat, Oman on 8 December – 16 December 2010. The Vietnamese team comprises 73 athletes competing in 7 sports: Beach handball, Beach sepaktakraw, Beach soccer, Beach volleyball, Bodybuilding, Marathon swimming, Woodball.

The 2nd Asian Beach Games is a multi-sport event sanctioned by the Olympic Council of Asia and will be held 8-16 December 2010.The Games encourage Asia’s youth to participate in sport and celebrate the vast and varied cultures found across the continent. It works to uplift national pride and create a festival of cooperation and camaraderie. The Asian Beach Games are composed of a variety of modern sports as well as variations on traditional sports.
Fourteen sports are on the Muscat 2010 programme: beach soccer, beach handball, beach kabaddi, beach sepaktakraw, beach volleyball, beach waterpolo, beach woodball, bodybuilding, jetski sport, marathon swimming, sailing, tent pegging, triathlon, and waterski.

Muscat, Oman: HIS Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has conferred the Oman Civil Order – Second Class on Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, President of the Olympic Council of Asia. The order was presented yesterday by His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers.
HH Sayyid Fahd said the felicitation reflects His Majesty’s appreciation of Sheikh Ahmad's achievements for Asian sport and his efforts which command respect of all those concerned with sports and youth.
He affirmed that the Sultanate led by its wise leadership accords much care to sport and youth sector as well as all activities that promote talent.
HH Sayyid Fahd said the Sultanate appreciates the role of the Olympic Council of Asia in nurturing the youth and organising sport events for better ties among people.
On his part, Sheikh Ahmad expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Majesty for the high honour bestowed on him and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Council members to His Majesty.
He thanked the Sultanate for the distinguished success in organising the 2nd Asian Beach Games. He also praised the level of support accorded to the Omani youth.
The order presentation was attended by H.E. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Sports Affairs, and Habib bin Abdulnabi Macki, Deputy Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee and Director General of Muscat 2010 Asian Beach Games.

Muscat 2010 Holds Venue Management Orientation

Muscat, Oman: The Muscat Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (MABGOC) Venue Management Team has held an organisation-wide orientation for the Muscat 2010 workforce. The purpose of the orientation was to give all functional areas a better understanding of the role the Venues directorate plays in ensuring the success of the Games. As well, the orientation provided an opportunity for the team to introduce some of the new faces that have recently joined the directorate.
In addition to planning and managing all aspects of the venues from the initial stages of architectural drawings, to the overlay and venue building phase, to wayfinding and signage, the Venues directorate also plays a key role in facilitating communications between functional areas of the organising committee and third-parties. Venue managers facilitate relationships with venue owners and operators, identifies and resolves venue related issues prior to and at Games-time, and escalates unresolved issues to executive level management for further action. The Venues directorate also includes the Spectator Services programme, which is essential to ensuring spectators have access to timely and relevant information at Games-time.
Venue Operations Manager for the Muscat City Venues Ms Hollis Kosco gave an overview of the directorate’s current position and its timelines for next steps. She explained: “The orientation provided essential information to the MABGOC workforce about the venues and a clear idea of our plans leading up the Games and our operations at Games-time. We want to ensure all functional areas understand where the Venues directorate currently is with its plans and where we are heading”.
Venue Operations Manager for the Al-Musannah Sports City Venues Mr Muhammad Taufiq provided a clear breakdown of the locations where each of the 14 sports on the Muscat 2010 calendar will be held. He shared maps of the venues and described each of the locations.
“We have divided the 2nd Asian Beach Games Venues into 2 locations, the Muscat City Venues and the Al-Musannah Sports City Venues. Beach volleyball, beach handball, beach sepaktakraw, beach soccer, beach waterpolo, sailing and jetski sport will be contested at Al-Musannah Sports City, whereas bodybuilding will be staged at the Qurum City Amphitheatre, marathon swimming and waterski will be held at Qantab Beach, North Al Hail (Al Seeb Corniche Beach) will play host to beach woodball, beach kabaddi and triathlon, while tent pegging will be held at the equestrian grounds in Barkha,” he explained.
The Venues directorate plans to hold bi-weekly inter-organisational meetings from now until Games-time to facilitate communications and the share of information between functional areas.
